Fashion Soirée: Harper's Bazaar & Samsaara Summer Style Event

If you have been a  fashion blogger for over a year, getting invited to high profile events becomes a part of your blogger routine. However when the Fashion Features Director of Harper's Bazaar India personally invites you to an event, you know for a fact that it is something you do not want to miss.

Samsaara in association with Harper’s Bazaar India hosted a private preview to showcase the new Spring/Summer arrivals at their luxurious boutique in Kemps Corner, Bombay.
I was one of the only two blogger lucky enough to be invited and attend the event.

Renowned designers Anand Kabra, Nachiket Barve, Geisha by Paras & Shalini, Nishka Lulla, dressed the muse of their choice in their latest creations.

The ladies of the evening represented everything from festive finery to casual chic.
 Madhoo Shah looked like like a modern day ‘Maharani’ in a resplendent gold and maroon sharara from Anand Kabra, Dipanita Sharma dazzled in a Nachiket Barve creation. Nisha Javeri was adorned in an antique gold sweeping gown from Paras and Shalini’s label, Geisha. Nishka Lulla flaunted her boho chic side in her own design.

Along with admiring the latest collection I had a chance to meet some of the city's most stylish ladies: Chhaya Momaya, Mandira Bedi, Zeba Hohli, Lata Patel, Ramona Narang, Deepika Gehani, Dilshad Khambatta, Bindu Mittal, Arti Murjani, Bindu Zaveri and Jasna Thakersey.

While all the ladies were dressed in their finest best, my personal fave look was of none other than Ms. Ami Patel, Creative Director of Harper’s Bazaar India.  

Known for creating icon covers and fashion magazine editorial and dressing famous celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra, Ami stood out in a crowd of well dressed fashionistas and looked simply spectacular in a Pankaj And Nidhi creation.

While I loved the clothes, it was Isharya's jewellery that called out to me. I could not help but try out Isharya Green Blue Moon Bali Filigree Hoops and Jaali Filigree Statement Cuff.

Samsaara's entire Spring/Summer collection has something for everyone.

The breezy ghagras by Anand Kabra were perfect picks for summer brides.
Amit Aggarwal's fantastical creations and Gaurav Gupta's draped dresses were ideal for those looking to experiment with the creative side of fashion and invest in statement making pieces. If colour is your thing, Nachiket Barve's kitch sarees and Nishka Lulla's neon creations have your name written on it.

It was one of those lovely summer afternoon where I not only had a chance to view the lastest and best of Indian fashion but I also has a chance to discuss fashion with Indian fashion industry stalwarts.

All I can say is thank you to the team of Harper's Bazaar India and Samsaara for inviting me. It was one memorable soirée.

Summer Fashion Staples

Here’s a fact: nobody welcomes a new season quite like the fashion world. Ever fashion house, brands and shop is doing its very best for you to know that they have the must-have IT trend of the season.For us fashion bloggers summer officially arrives when our inbox gets filled with summer fashion lookbooks and store visit invites. 

While browsing through the various summer lookbooks sent my way, I stumbled upon Promod's summer collection. To be honest, I have known about Promod but never really noticed it before. Out of curiosity I gave it a look, and I am glad I did.
While going thorough their summer collection, I not only found some stunning, drool-worthy pieces, but I finally discovered Promod.

While the entire collection is filled with standout pieces, my personal favourite's are the denim shirts, the splash effect floral print top, delicate white tunics/blouse with embroidered lace and embellished mini skirts.
The beauty of Promod Spring-Summer 2013 collection is, that most of the pieces can be worn in the day and with a few add-ons be transformed into night-out ensembles.
What I really liked about Promod Spring-Summer 2013 line, is that they have managed to create a collection that provides the modern women with affordable, sophisticated and easy-to-wear fashion.

Summer State Of Mind!

I love summers. Ideally, I like to say I love spring, but we in Bombay don't experience spring. So between a 5 day winter and horrid four months of monsoons, I am one of the few who actually enjoys the heat. Don't get me wrong, the warm weather gets to me too, but I any day prefer it to the rains. While most of the world is just getting ready for summer, for us out here, more that half the season is almost over. So before I bid adieu to my fave season, here's a round up of some of my fave summer style and trends- all under $100.00 {approximately INR 5,490}

Street Style Inspiration: Floral Jeans

Personally, I feel there are a somethings that are awesome by themselves. But when they get paired with another remarkable entity the end result could be anything from brilliant to bonkers.
That's exactly how felt about the floral jeans trend. I love jeans, I love florals but will these two work together?
So, before I decided to buy or suggest a pair to anyone, I needed to be 100% convinced about this trend myself. Is this trend just for the runways and red carpets and will they look as good on me and you as they look in an editorial spread?

Lucky for us, since the invasion of social media, we are now getting inspired by a whole new breed of fashion icons. Everyday girls like you and me are taking high fashion and giving it a whole new wearable look. And honestly, not until I saw a few of my fave fashion bloggers wear this trend was I convinced that floral jeans is a real-way trend too.

While selecting floral {or printed} jeans for the first time, keep in mind:

1.Choose Correctly: First off, you need to pick a floral print in a style and colour you are most comfortable in, as well as one that suits your body type and structure.

 If you’re not a print person; and want to try this trend, then start with small floral motif instead of big cabbage roses or colourful tropical flowers. If print is your thing, then there are a variety of floral patterns to play and experiment with.

2.Must Fit Perfectly: The same rule of picking a pair of good, well-fitted jeans apply here too. They must fit very well on your waist, hips, butt, and crotch. No bulging, sagging, hanging, please. Remember, an ill fitted floral {or printed} jeans will not only look bad, but also attract unwanted attention on places you don’t want to flaunt. The fit is of paramount importance.

3.Balance is Key: Lets face it, this trend is not for those who are print shy, and if not styled correctly one may end up looking like grandma’s bedroom! But, don't let it's novelty and statement making quality scare you off from trying it out.

Thanks to our fave fashion bloggers, we’ve learnt different ways to style this trend. Since floral jeans are a statement piece, the outfit should be built around it. From print-mixing floral with stripes to pairing then with solid colours and adding statement jewellery, floral jeans can easily be mixed with key-items and current pieces from wardrobe.

The beauty of floral jeans is that it is an any-time-of-the-day friendly item. Be it family brunch or shopping trip with the girls or dinner date, floral jeans can work its way through different social occasions.
