When Fashion Meets Comfort | #UnboxWithLiva

There is an age-old debate: Can fashion be comfortable?  Is it possible for these two to function in tandem? Or is fashion and comfort mutually exclusive?
With people now aspiring to dress in a fashionable manner as well as be comfortable, more and more fashion brands are trying to put an end to the fashion vs comfort dichotomy and create something that is a blend of both.
That is how Liva was born.

For those who do not know, Liva is a new age, eco-friendly, high quality, soft, fluid fabric made from natural (wood pulp) cellulosic fibers.

Liva recently launched
its #UnboxWithLiva campaign that is all set to break the stereotype that fashion and comfort cannot coexists together. The main aim of the campaign is to put an end to the fashion vs comfort debate by offering both at the same time.

The fabric is the spine and foundation of a garment and is often the unsung hero of fashion. Therefore, this post is all about celebrating Liva.
The look for the post has been planed with the aim to highlight the key features of Liva.
I have layered two high-low hem tunics together. Both of them are from Global Desi and belong to the pink family. The inner one is on the coral side with
cerulean blue embroidery. The outer printed tunic, styled as a duster coat, is in fuchsia pink. To make the pink colours stand out I paired it with a contrast cobalt blue pants.

No stranger to Liva, I have loved it ever since I discovered it. These are the reasons why I am a fan of the fabric.
Free Flowing Fluidity
The key feature of Liva is fluidity. The fabric’s inherent free flowing characteristic makes Liva a perfect choice for a number of silhouettes and drapes.
From tunics to palazzos and from structured jackets to flowy dresses, the fabric can be styled into a variety of shapes and designs.
Plus Size Friendly and Flatters All Body Shapes
Being plus size I always look for fabrics that drape well on my body and do not make me look larger than my size or shapeless.
Since the USP of Liva is fluidity, the fabric has a graceful fall that drapes beautifully on every body shape and size. While it is lightweight, the fabric is not flimsy. What I most love about Liva is, at no time does it add bulk. Even when layering multiple pieces the overall look is body shape and size flattering.
This is boon for any body shape or size, but for plus size it is a matter of joy. This feature of Liva makes it easy for us plus size women to pick form-flattering garments in a variety of styles and silhouette, plus, gives us the confidence to layer pieces together.
Vibrant Colours
Liva has a natural sheen to it that adds to the vibrancy of the colours. If you look at any Liva garment, whether it is in a bright or pastel shade, the colours stand out. Even the most somber colour has a rich and lustrous look to it.
Liva is a durable fabric too. The colour does not fade even after multiple washes.
Natural and Comfortable
Liva is made from natural cellulosic fibers because of which it has great absorption ability and breathability that allows the skin to breathe easily and provide comfort even on the most hot and humid days.
Along with being skin friendly, Liva, compared to other natural fabrics such as cotton and linen, creases much lesser.
Eco-Friendly
Liva is made from natural fibres, produced from wood pulp. This is a natural renewable resource. The pulp used is from the trees that are specially grown for this purpose and more trees are planted than cut down. The best part is, it conserves more water in comparison to other natural fabrics.

With the growing need and demand for minimising the gap between quality fashion and wearable comfort, Liva has been pioneer on that front. Offering consumer a product that is a fine balance of fashion and comfort.
Along with being fluid, lustrous, skin-friendly fabric, Liva is also ideal for all weathers, flattering to all body types and suited for most occasion.

Draped In Fluidity

Fashion mirrors the times we live in. Just like art, literature and cinema, fashion too adapts to its surrounding. The rise and fall in economy; the shifting political climate, the birth of a new ideology and the ever changing mindsets and outlook of the people, all invariably get represented in the clothes we wear and how we wear it.
With the world becoming more freethinking and ready to embrace new ideas, it is only natural we do that by wearing clothes that represent our mindset.

This post is all about embracing and exploring the new. What better way to do it than draped in Liva- The new age natural fluid fabric.
Not a stranger to this fabric, I have been wearing Liva based clothes for a year now.
To help showcase Liva’s trademark feature of fluidity I knew I had to do something a tad bit different.

To make my vision come to life, I decided to style a classic white mirror embellished, high-low hem Global Desi kurta with a floor length sleeveless jacket.
However, instead of opting for a run-of-the-mill, regular jacket, I decided to style a button-front cobalt and chartreuse printed Global Desi maxi dresses as a jacket. Not only did I get to layer these pieces together, but I also got to showcase the versatility of the pieces and the different ways in which they can be styled.

I loved the flowy silhouette of the dress and when layered as a jacket it beautifully cascades around you due to the fabric’s inherent fluidity. The bright colour lover that I am, I could not resist the vibrant colour combination of the dress.
The lightweight quality of the kurta and dress made it an easy choice to layer with, without adding bulk or feeling uncomfortable.
Since Liva is made from natural cellulosic fibers, the fabric has great breathability and absorption ability that allows the skin to breathe easily and provide comfort even on the most hot and humid days.

Honestly, I had the hardest time finalising the look for this post. The minute I walked into the Global Desi store, I was engulfed with bright colours, eye-catching prints and flowy silhouettes. I tried on quite a lot of different looks before opting for this one.
Along with pandering to my newfound love for layering, the look is quite different from my previous looks. Plus, thanks to the flowy silhouette of the kurta and dress, it lets me effortlessly show off Liva’s graceful fluidity.

After sending a few hours at the Global Desi store I was totally spoilt for choice.
Like me, if you too love colours and prints in natural fabric, then you must check out the entire Liva range at Global Desi. I promise, you are in for a major treat.

Introducing LIVA: The New Age Fluid Fabric

Very often we associate fashion with glamour. But before a garment reaches it glamorous destination it starts its journey as a single yarn. The yarns that make up the fabric of the garment plays the most important and crucial role.
Like everything else in the fashion world, the world of textiles has been evolving in its efforts to offer us new age fabrics.
As much as I love discovering new designers and trends, it brings me immense joy when I learn about a new fabric.

When I was invited for Liva's official unveiling I was mighty thrilled. To be honest, I have known about Liva for a while now, however, I got to see the fabric’s full potential up-close at an event that took place a few days back.
To start with, what is Liva?
Liva is a new age, high quality fabric made from natural (wood pulp) cellulosic fibres. The fabric is the brain child of Birla Cellulose, a part of the Aditya Birla Group.
The key feature of Liva is, its fluidity. Due to its soft, free flowing characteristic, the fabric is ideal for a number of silhouettes and drapes.
Along with fluidity, Liva has a natural sheen to it. Since the fabric is made from natural fibres and renewable resource, it has a great breathability and absorption ability that allows the skin to breathe easilys and provide comfort even in the harshest weather.
In a nutshell, Liva is a fluid, lustrous, skin-friendly fabric, that is set to change the face of the fashion world.

The graceful fluidity of LIVA was bought to life through a fashion show title ‘Panchtatva’.
The show was divided into 5 collections inspired by 5 elements of nature. Each designer’s collection was inspired by one of nature's element to highlighted the fluid quality of the fabric.
Air was the theme for James Ferreira’s all white, cowl drape and sequin embellished collection.
Puja Nayyar took inspiration for the vast expanse of Mother Earth for her neutral palette with neon pop collection.
The shapes and shades of sky played muse for Soham Dave’s collection.
Narendra Kumar decide to showcase the fluid nature of water through ripple effect inspired prints, sharp tailoring and structured silhouettes .
The warm colours and voluminous skirts were the highlight of Anita Dongre’s fire theme collection .

The highlight of the fashion show was show stopper Kangana Ranaut, who is the official face and brand ambassador for Liva.
When asked about her experience with Liva, Kangana said: “I think it’s the kind of fabric that can go well with any clothing and occasion. Moreover, I personally feel that Liva is going to play a very important role in the world of fashion.”

Brands like
Global Desi, AND, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Pantaloon and Chemistry are already using Liva for their collection.
With an aim to make Liva the preferred choice of fabric with all designers and fashion brands, Liva is all set to revolutionise Indian (and global) fashion industry.

Lists à la Mode
This week, IFB members made a lot of lists. It’s not that surprising—bloggers are known for making lists. But among this week’s submissions, I was impressed by the spectrum of topics featured, from 3 ways to wear a white shirt, to 4 Kentucky Derby looks to 20 ways to wear short hair (with a video!). The originality of IFB is always impressive.
And as you know, we don’t usually choose outfit posts for LALM, unless they have an exceptionally compelling angle. This week, we went for it because anyone who braves a swarm of bees for an #OOTD photo deserves a shout out. On to the links!
