Style It Thrice: Accessorize Embellished Clutch

Here’s a secret- I can never resist bright colour lipstick, eye-catching statement jewellery, and stylish oversized tote.
However, for a while now I have been crushing on clutches. As guilty as I feel about cheating on my beloved oversized totes, I just cannot resist a trendy clutch. And if it is an embellished one wild horses can’t stop me from getting my hands on it!
The first time I saw this Accessorize embellished clutch I knew for a fact that this clutch is going to be my plus one throughout the festive and wedding season.
Designed in a way that it easily complements both Indian and Western wear, I had officially found my soulmate of the season.
To be honest, Accessorize's latest collection has some of the to-die-for embellished clutches of the season, but this geometric-print sequin and bead detailing one is hands down one of the most dazzling as well as styling friendly piece. The black woven fabric decorated with gold sequin and beads, gives the clutch an easy to mix and match quality.

Other than being absolutely gorgeous, it is one of the most versatile statement accessory I have seen in a while. Plus, it can easily be used post the festive season. That is why I decided to feature Accessorize embellished clutch {INR 4145/-} as this year's last 'Style It Thrice' segment.

With the right styling this tribal inspired black and gold embellished clutch can easily be styled with many different looks.
Keeping the latest trends as well classic styles in mind, here are few embellished clucth styling options.

Style It Thrice: Glitter Ballerina

“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” Marilyn Monroe

Once a friend jokingly said, “All that glitters has Amena written all over it!”
Even though she was joking we both knew that was not far from the truth. For the longest time ever, I have had a thing for all things glitter, baubles, bling and metallic. I love them in all shapes, sizes and styles.

As much as I love all things glitter, I know for a fact how very easy it is to make glitter go from eye catching to tacky and God forbid, trashy! This is one of those trends that can swing either way.
To make this trend work, you need to invest in a piece that is apt for your body type.
Since glitter has a statement making quality, make sure it is adorned on that part of your body that you consider an asset.
Since I am not blessed with a glitter flaunting kind of body, I decided to deck my feet out in all its bling glory.
I have always dabbled with glitter, however, this is the first time in my life I have invested in a full-fledged glitter piece.
For my first ever glitter piece I treated myself to these stunning colourful ballet flats from Catwalk.
I got this pair for- wait for it- just Rs. 600/-from Shoppers Stop in Hyderabad. The only think I shopped this sale season! (You can buy the exact same Catwalk glitter ballerina from Myntra.com and Jabong.com)
Other than being my first glitter piece, these ballerinas are my first pair of closed shoes in 12 years!
When I bought them I really did not think styling them would be a task, until someone asked me are these shoes a practical purchase? She further added, the fact that they are multi-colour glitter itself makes them unmatchable with many things.
Where a season mix and matcher like me saw truckload of styling potentials, for someone with an untrained eye these ballerinas could have looked like an outlandish purchase.

For this week’s ‘Style It Thrice’ segment I decided to feature what I like to call my version of the ‘Ruby Slippers’
Not only are the ballerinas comfortable, they can easily be styled with a number of different pieces for different occasion.
Keeping the latest trends as well classic styles in mind, here are few of my glitter ballerina styling options.
Working Girl: The first time I wore my glitter ballerina; it was during Lakmé Fashion Week. In fact, this entire outfit is inspired by my LFW Day 3 look.
For trendy work wear look pair the ballerina with simple cobalt blue blouse, classic black jeans, colourful necklace and oversized tote. The overall look is a blend of classic style with elements of colour pop.
For a more corporate look, trade the colourful necklace/bag with a subtle metallic/neutral one.
[DIANE VON FURSTENBERG  Blouse, MANGO Jeans, DAVID AUBREY Necklace, CALVIN KLEIN JEANS Tote, MARC by MARC JACOBS Watch, YVES SAINT LAURENT Blush]

Fashion Week: Fashion Week is that time of the year when fashion industry's best creations are seen on as well as off the runway.
To make a significant statement, style a monochrome print mix ensemble. Pair the glitter ballerina with a black and white printed halter top and printed full skirt. To up the chic quotient, polish the look off with nude pink blazer, black and gold hardware belt,  plum clutch and cuff bracelet.
[JANE NORMAN Top, JIL SANDER Skirt, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN Blazer, REBECCA MINKOFF Clutch, BALMAIN Belt, VINCE CAMUTO Earrings, OSCAR DE LA RENTA Cuff, BOBBI BROWN Lip Gloss]

Date Night: Bored of wearing the uniform LBD or LWD to your date nights? Spice up your look and mix and match the ballerina with a fluro green lace shift dress and black and white patterned minaudiére. Polish the look off with a cuff bracelet, bright lipstick and dangling stone earrings.
[TOPSHOP Dress, ZARA Minaudiére, KATE SPADE Earrings, BACCARAT Cuff Bracelet, NARS Eye Liner Pencil, L'OREAL Lipstick]

What I really like about this pair of glitter ballerina is, that they can easily be styled with Western, Indo-Western and Indian attire. Ideal for the upcoming festive season.

Once in a while it's fun to trade you regular shoes for a pair of glittery statement making ones. Don't you agree? Share your views with me in the comment section.

Style It Thrice: Neon Layered Necklace

While some women have a love affair with shoes, mine is with eye catching statement necklace (as well as bright colour lipsticks and oversized bags).
In fact, the amount of necklaces and bags I have bought in the past few months has crossed my outfit count!

The first time I saw Accessorize's neon layered statement necklace I had a major Amy Farrah Fowler "Who" moment (the same reaction I have every time I see Harvey Specter!)
I went weak in the knee, my mouth got dry and all I wanted to do was grab that thing and label it as mine!
Ever since I treated myself to this stunning beauty I have been wearing it everywhere. Like literally!
One of the many reasons why I decided to feature my Accessorize neon layered statement necklace {Rs.2645} in this week's 'Style It Thrice' segment.
Other than being absolutely gorgeous, it is hands down my favourite statement necklace at the moment; plus one of India's biggest fashion designer complimented it. His exact words:"I love your necklace. It is stunning!"
What really makes this week's 'Style It Thrice' a special post, is, for the first time I am featuring something from my personal wardrobe on this segment.

I have to be honest- The first time I shared a picture of the necklace-as much as everyone loved it-some of my readers and friends had a few reservations about it.
Most of them felt that you can only wear it white or neutrals and not with bright shades and prints.
I have worn this necklace with white {at Inglot event}, dark brown {at Toni&Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe launch} and bright yellow {at the launch of Trinny & Susannah ‎Makeover Mission India}.

With the right styling the necklace can easily be styled in many different ways.

Keeping the latest trends as well classic styles in mind, here are few of my neon layered statement necklace styling options.

Casual: As glamorous as the necklace maybe, it can easily be styled for a casual look. Paring the necklace with a soft beige lace top, pink coloured jean, coral tone bag and nude wedges this look is ideal for a brunch date or family gathering over the weekend.
The beige of the top acts as a subtle background for the necklace without stealing its thunder.

Classic: One does not often hear the words neon statement necklace and ornate print in the same statement.
However, when paired together the look can be either drop dead gorgeous or a complete train wreck.
To really make this combination-neon statement necklace and ornate print-work, the print colour has to be in a contrasting shade.
For an elegant look ideal for high tea or gallery opening, pair the necklace with a midnight blue dress and silver shoes. Polish the look off with tangerine bag and pink lipstick.

Street Style: If there is one place where a trend is tried and tested in every possible way, it is the streets of fashion.
The one trend that
has been the darling of street style fashion and caught the fancy of everyone from bloggers to editors, is the neon trend.
Pairing a classic white ladylike blouse, with an eye catching neon full skirt and black bling clutch, the look is bound to have a few heads turn your way. Add a pair of cobalt blue pumps and the neon layered necklace and you are set to stop traffic with this look.
From Fashion Week to first date, this look can take a girl everywhere!
Style Tip for wearing statement necklace: Avoid wearing long dangling earrings with statement necklace. More statement necklace styling ideas here and here

Even though the neon trend is on its way out, this necklace has an evergreen look to it. It can be worn with any style, at anytime round the year.

Like me, are you a statement necklace person? And what type of statement necklace do you like to wear? Share your views in the comment section.

Style It Thrice: Orange Silk Blouse

The other day I was researching 'wardrobe must-have' list. And list after list had their own opinion as to what and what not should be a part of a woman's wardrobe. The one thing; besides jeans and LBD, that was common in 98% of the lists was, a simple button front blouse {full or half sleeves depending on the weather}.
You must be wondering
what is the real purpose of a plain old simple blouse? While jeans are all age friendly and LBD can be dressed up and down, how is an almost 'matronly' kind of blouse a fashion must-have? Well, in fashion; just like in real life, looks can be super deceptive. What may look bland to the unstylish eye can actually be a gem of a find for a fashion savant
For this week's 'Style It Thrice' segment I have chosen a J.Crew orange {neon-papaya} full sleeves button front blouse. The sheer simplicity is one of the reasons why I chose it. What may seem to most as a plan and simple blouse, can easily be transformed into a stylish and trendy ensemble. Due to its simplicity the blouse can be styled and worn for a number of occasion-day and night.
Here are few of my styling suggestion that will hopefully make you see this simple yet versatile blouse in a new light.
Look 1: This blouse would be perfect for office wear. But, instead of pairing it with regular trousers opt for an on-trend high low skirt {Make sure the skirt's front length is work place appropriate}.Add on a bright colour necklace and chic patterned bag and you are set for a stylish business meeting.
[LAVISH ALICE Skirt, ZARA Sandal, PROENZA SCHOULER Bag, KATE SPADE NEW YORK Necklace, MICHAEL KORS Watch, SEPHORA COLLECTION  Eyeliner]

Look 2: Full sleeve button front blouse is not something one would consider as casual wear. Right? But, if you pair the same blouse with bright coloured jeans, funky bag and statement necklace you have pretty much created for yourself a fun look that would be perfect for weekend shopping or brunch with the girls.
[MANGO Jeans, EMILIO PUCCI Flat Sandals, MARY KATRANTZOU Bag, DANNIJO Necklace, BURBERRY Blush]

Look 3: Party wear is all about the sexy. And this blouse is as sexy as sexy can be. All you need to do is role up the sleeves, throw on some bling-bling bracelets and pair the blouse with a all-eyes-on-me skirt and killer stilettos and you are ready to brun the dance floor.
[RIVER ISLAND Mini Skirt, REED KRAKOFF Sandals, GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI Clutch, LAUREN HARPER Earrings, DANNIJO Bracelets, CHANEL Lipstick, SUE DEVITT Eye Liner]

Do you have a simple blouse in your wardrobe? And how do you like to style it? Share your views with me in the comment section.

Style It Thrice: Color Block Woven Sandal

Here a fact- there is very little that can distract me from a decadently sumptuous meal. So imagine my surprise; while digging into my fave mushroom risotto my eye land on something even more delicious. And mid bite I literally stop and ogle at these babies! Sitting diagonally across from me was this head to to insignificant vision of white. It was these colourful sandals on her feet that called to me. And ever since first laying eyes on them, I am totally obsessed with it. Since I could not find a pair at the Zara  shop, I so plan to buy me a pair online as an early Eid gift to myself.
For this week's 'Style It Thrice' segment, I have chosen a pair of color block woven thong sandals by Zara {$40, INR 2,790}. Its a personal favorite of mine. But as attrattive as they may look, a lot of people shy away from buying these colorful statement making footwear. One of the biggest reasons being they really don't know where to wear it or how to style it. Don't let their virbrant colors scare you off. The beauty of a these sandals is that it can be worn to a variety of occasions. Incorporating current trends and classic styles here are my styling suggestions.

Office Meeting Look: Gone the days where people wore only black or beige pumps to work. For a trendy work wear look pair these sandals with colored jeans, printed blouse and neutral tones color block satchel. For a more corporate look, trade the colored jeans for a colored blazer and black/navy pants.

[TORY BURCH blouse, CLOSED Colored Pants, KENNETH JAY LANE Ring, YVES SAINT LAURENT Blush]

Gallery Opening Look: While attending a local art gallery opening or exhibit one does not need to dress in designer wear. Ideally opt for a classy semi-formal look. To make a significant style statement, let your sandals and accessories do all the talking. Pair a  printed multicolor skirt with a simple tank top, over-sized clutch and statement necklace.
[KAIN Tank, GIRL. BY BAND OF OUTSIDERS Skirt, ALEXIS BITTAR Flower Necklace, MODCLOTH Clutch, GIVENCHY Eyeliner, MICHAEL KORS Watch]

Cocktail Party Look: Fed up of wearing the uniform LBD or LWD to a cocktail party? Then spice up your look and mix and match your sandals with a bright orangish red dropped waist dress and vintage shoulder bag. Polish the look off with cuff bracelet stone necklace.
[DIANE VON FURSTENBERG Dress, CHANEL Bag, MARC BY MARC JACOBS Necklace, ZADIG & VOLTAIRE Cuff, GIORGIO ARMANI Lip Gloss]

Sometimes, its fun to swap you regular shoes for a pair of statement making ones. Don't you agree? Share your views with me in the comment section.

Style It Thrice: Neon Stone Necklace

It is quite obvious that I have what is otherwise know as a neon hangover! I just can't seem to get enough of these vibrant shades. Being born in the 80's I guess this unhealthy obsession is part of my DNA! Anyhoo, this love for florescent shades is not going to go away anytime soon. Plus, with the monsoons soon approaching, neon colours are a perfect way to brighten up those wet morbid days.
Personally, I do neon the safe way- preferring to wear them as accessories or shoes or bag. So ever since I saw this piece, I have fallen head first in love with it. With sale season just round the corner, this necklace is the first one on my 'must buy it' list.
For this week's 'Style It Thrice' segment I have chosen a neon stone necklace by Zara {$20, INR 1190}. It is a statement making neck piece without being-over-the-top. Plus, due to its elegant design, one can wear it for multiple occasions as well as pair it with with a variety of colours and prints.
For those who are looking to experiment with neon shades for the first time, this necklace is a good place to start. Here are a few of my styling suggestions to help you along.

Family Lunch Look: Summer 2012 has been a summer of two things-colored jeans and neon shades! For a trendy casual look pair the necklace with your fave coloured jeans, tribal print top-currently the IT trend- and neon bag and bangles for a lunch with the family. To make this look a monsoon friendly one, choose a top that is not in white or light colour based and slip resistant footwear.
[MANGO Colored Jeans; DIANE VON FURSTENBERG Blouse; MARC BY MARC JACOBS Bag; MANGO Sandal, ASSAD MOUNSER Bracelet; BOTTEGA VENETA Earrings; CHANEL Lipstick]

Fashion Week Look: Fashion Week is that time of the year when the best of fashion is seen on as well as off the runway. To make a significant statement- create a colour block ensemble. Match your neon necklace with a contrasting {colour} coral pink dress and floral print clutch. To up the chic quoitent polish the look off with neon sandals and watch as heads turn your way.
[ALICE + OLIVIA Dress; JIL SANDER Floral Clutch; ZARA Sandal; KANUPRIYA Earrings;  REED KRAKOFF Ring; TOM FORD Eye Shadow; CHANEL Lipgloss; GIVENCHY Eyeliner Pencil]

Date Night Look: Bored of wearing the necklace again and again? The best way to funk up the look is by layering a bunch of chains and necklaces together and create a multi-tiered necklace. To make your necklaces stand out wear this look with an all black {or any solid} colour outfit. Complete the look with metallic heels and a cute shoulder bag.
[JIGSAW Tank; VIVIENNE TAM Skirt; REED KRAKOFF Sandals; NINE WEST Bag
JUICY COUTURE Link Necklace; ORLY GENGER BY JACLYN MAYER; BALENCIAGA NecklaceYVES SAINT LAURENT Cuff; KENNETH JAY LANE Earrings; SEPHORA Eyeliner; YVES SAINT LAURENT Lipstick]

Once in a while it is good to let the accessories take over and do all the talking. Don't you agree? And with a necklace as versatile and trendy as this, one can rarely go wrong with it.

What do you think of neon necklace and how would style it? Share your views and opinion with me in the comment section.

Style It Thrice:Cream Lace Top.

The one thing that I dread as much as weighing myself on a Monday morning is, repeating outfits {Long time back, a non-friend very politely pointed out,"did you, like not wear that same thing for last Saturday dinner too!"}. But, we all been there, and done that. Sometimes with great success and others times not so.
Well for reasons such as this, I have decided to start my 'Style It Thrice' segment.
So what is ‘Style It Thrice’? It is my 3 best styling suggestions for a particular item or trend, that is either based on body type, or social occasion, or colour harmony, and so on. In short, it's a style guide for everyday girls like you and me.
For my first ‘Style It Thrice’, I have chosen a Cream lace top by Dorothy Perkins. For starters, everyone has a white/cream top{or tunic}. It is much needed in the summers and can easily be used in the other seasons too. Also, lace is the IT fabric of the season. From dress to shoes lace is having a major moment. But, the biggest problem with lace is, if not styled correctly it can easily make you appear tad bit too old. To avoid such disasters, I am going to show you a few ways you can add modern, on-trend touch to your classy cream/ white lace top.
Date Night Look: Add a hint of sexiness to your ensemble by pairing your lace top with a neon {hot pink and mustard} color block skirt, metallic clutch and floral peep toes. Complete the look with a statement necklace and smokey eye makeup and you won’t have to worry about your date looking at anyone else but you.
[Skirt,Shoes, Clutch, Necklace, Cuff, Lipstick, Eyeshadow,Eyeliner]

Casual Friday Look: This spring is all about pastel and colored denim. Mix your lace top with a pastel {mint green} coloured denim and you are all set to rock summer’s coolest two trends.Thrown on a floral scarf, cute ballet flats and you can zip right out of a meeting and catch up the latest Friday release with the girls. Incase your office does not do Casual Friday; this outfit can easily be worn for one of your Saturday shopping trips.
[Jeans, Scarf, Tote, Flats, Sunglasses, Ring, Lipgloss]

Sunday Brunch Look: Combine your pretty lace top with trendy black shorts, tangerine shoulder bag and wedges. If the weather permits spice up the look with a {tangerine} coloured blazer and your all set for your Sunday outting.
[Shorts, Shoulder Bag, Wedge, Blazer, Earrings, Blush]

Very easily you too can mix and match you feminine lace top with spring summer 2012's colour trends.{You can also check out my other post on Neon, Pastel and Tangerine colour trends}

SInce this top is in sheer lace fabric, I thought I would be a perfect one to submit for InFB Remix:Sheer.

What do you think of my 'Style It Thrice' segment? And what piece of item would you like me to style next? Share your views with me in the comment section.
